Hash Code 2020 - Google Coding Contest

Contest outline:

Hash Code a google coding contest, lets you share your skills and connect with other coders while you work together to solve a problem based on a real Google engineering challenge. In small teams of two to four, coders around the world will tackle the first problem with an online qualifying round. Although this round is hosted online, teams can get together to compete side by side in locally coordinated Hash Code hubs. The best teams in this round will be invited to join contest organizers at an international Google office for annual Hash Code final round

Competition Structure:

  • Once registered for the competition, you will have access to hashcode system of judges. The judge system is an online platform where you will train your team, join a hub, practice and compete during the rounds.

  • During the online qualification phase, you will watch YouTube livestream to find out the problem and your team will have four hours to solve an optimization problem using the programming language and tools of your choice.

  • Teams can compete from a local hub or another location of their choice. The best teams from the online qualifying phase will be invited to the final phase in a Google office, where they will work together to solve another challenge and compete for cash prizes. The Final Round will take place at the Google office in Dublin, Ireland, or such other location as Google may designate.

Hubs:

For the online qualifying round, your team can participate from anywhere using your own computer and Internet connection. To make this round more exciting, google has planned to have hubs in offices, universities and cities around the world ( 214 hubs across 59 countries ) so that teams can come together to compete side by side. Participating from a hub is a great way to meet new people.

Contest Rounds:

(A) Online Qualification Round. The Online Qualification Round will take place on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 17:30 UTC until 21:30 UTC. All participants will be notified of the Online Qualification Round results by Tuesday, February 25, 2020. This date may be postponed by Google (at its sole discretion) by an informational notice on the HC Contest website.


(B) Final Round. The Final Round is scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Google offices in Dublin, Ireland. Google may change the date and location of the Final Round at its sole discretion. During the Final Round, your Team will be asked to solve a challenge using your own computer equipment and materials.


Who Can Participate:

To compete from a hub, you must be at least 18 years old and at least the legal age in your country of residence. Participants must compete in a group of two, three, or four members.


Timeline

  • Jan 2 2020, 17:00 (UTC)- Individual registration opens

  • Feb 14 2020, 16:00 (UTC)- Hub registration closes

  • Feb 17 2020, 11:00 (UTC)-Individual registration closes

  • Feb 20 2020, 17:30 (UTC) to Feb 20 2020, 21:30 (UTC)-Online qualification round

  • Feb 25, 2020-Online qualification round: results announced

  • April 25, 2020-Final round

  • 1st Place $4,000 USD

Apart from participants will receive Certificates if the submitted solution scoring at least one (1) point during either the Online Qualification Round or Final Round are eligible to receive a downloadable and printable certificate, accessible from their Contest Profile, available approximately within a month of each Round’s completion.
