ABOUT THE COURSE AREA:
The 2-week course provides a strong technical foundation in Edge AI and TinyML, focusing on deploying machine learning models on embedded systems. Participants will use tools like Edge Impulse and Visual Studio Code to build end-to-end AI pipelines. The course covers data acquisition from sensors, pre-processing, feature extraction, and model training. Learners will implement lightweight neural networks optimised for low memory and power constraints. Real-time deployment will be done on Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense with integrated sensors. Technical topics include signal processing (MFCC, spectral features), quantisation, and latency optimisation. Hands-on applications include computer vision, audio recognition, and motion analysis. Students will work with sensors such as an accelerometer, gyroscope, microphone, and a camera. The course also introduces sensor fusion and real-time decision-making systems. By the end, participants can develop smart AI-based embedded applications for IoT, automation, healthcare, and surveillance systems.
LEARNING OUTCOME:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Design and implement end-to-end AI pipelines using Edge Impulse and Visual Studio Code, from sensor data acquisition to real-time deployment.
Apply signal processing techniques such as MFCC and spectral feature extraction for audio, vision, and motion data.
Train and optimise lightweight neural networks tailored for embedded systems with low memory and power constraints.
Deploy AI models on Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense, leveraging integrated sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, microphone, camera) for real-world applications.
Perform quantisation and latency optimisation to ensure efficient inference on resource-constrained devices.
Integrate sensor fusion techniques to build robust, real-time decision-making systems.
Develop practical AI-based embedded applications in domains such as IoT, automation, healthcare, and surveillance.
