Contest outline:

To identify & scale ideas, relevant to India, in the 5G realm, that will be developed into workable products and services. This Contest is organized by department of Telecommunications, Government of India.

  10. Multimedia & Broadcast

  11. Smart Cities & Infrastructure

  12. Others – Hardware, Computing, etc

who can Apply?

  • The event is open to all the players in the ecosystem who may participate as individuals, teams, companies, etc. and may work individually or as a team on ideas/concepts/solutions and present use cases (Indian Context) of the 5G network.

  • Participants may be individuals, partnerships, JVs, registered companies, groups of individuals from India and abroad.

  • Employees of the DOT, IMC and sponsoring companies are not eligible. Only compelling 5G use cases in the Indian context are acceptable.

  • The product should be demonstrable by the third phase of the challenge.


Contest Timeline:

  1. February 21, 2020 - Commencement of Program commences and applicants can submit their use cases till March 31.Top 100 applications will be shortlisted during the period of April 1 and April 15.

  2. April 16 to July 15 - Solution Development & Presentation

  3. July 16 to August 31 - Mentoring & Further Shortlisting of top 30 ideas

  4. September to October - 5G Trials The top entrants will take part in 5G trials.Selection of 3 Top Winners (1st to 10th Oct)

  5. October 16 - Grand Felicitation Ceremony- The winners will be announced at India Mobile Congress 2020.

Prize:

Phase 3: 1st October to 10th October Selection of top 3 winners. Top 3 winners get: INR 10 lakhs each

  • Participation in 5G Trials

  • Go to market support from India’s top telcos, OEMs & allied stakeholders

Phase 2: 16th July to 31st July

Out of the previously shortlisted submissions, 30 top solutions/products will be selected.

In the top 30, the prize money will be awarded based on the following ranking:

1-10: INR 5 lakhs

11-20: INR 4 lakhs

21-30: INR 3 lakhs

Phase 1: 1-15th April


100 best submissions or 20% of the total submissions (whichever is less) will be shortlisted.

The shortlisted submissions will be awarded 100,000 upon proof of concept, a working model or a demonstrable product/solution.
