Smart India Hackathon 2023 (SIH-2023) is a national initiative launched by AICTE and MoE aimed at providing students with a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and to inculcate a culture of product innovation and problem-solving mentality.

Contest Flow:

STEP 1:

SIH2023 Software & Hardware Edition: Problem statements submission by Central &State Ministries, Departments, PSUs, Industries & NGOs

STEP 2: Submission of Problem Statements (PSs) by Central & State Ministries, PSUs, Industries and NGOs on the SIH portal. Review of Submitted PSs & finalization by concerned committee Publishing finalized PSs

STEP 3: Registration of College SPOCs on SIH portal Blocking published PSs by SPOCs of Colleges or Institutes Internal campus hackathon to be conducted in each college or institute by their SPOCs on their blocked PSs

STEP 4: College SPOC to be responsible to conduct internal hackathon in the campus College to finalize total best 10 teams + 5 waitlisted teams from the internal hackathon. SPOC to recommend the selected teams for SIH 2023 Software/Hardware edition at SIH portal

STEP 5: Team leaders of the selected teams to be registered at the SIH portal to submit ideas Submission of ideas by selected teams against PSs by college SPOC for the SIH2023 Finale Evaluation of submitted ideas

STEP 6: Result analysis Publishing Result.

Who can Apply:

  • All technology students from AICTE/UGC/IIT/NIT/IISER/IIIT/ Government approved educational institutions for Senior Level & School Students for Junior Level Can apply.

Contest Timeline:

For College:

  • Idea Registration through college : 30th Sep 2023

  • The tentative dates for the hackathon is 2nd/3rd week of Nov 2023.

For School:

  1. Idea Submission – 23rd Aug to 31st Oct 2023

  2. Pre-Screening Evaluation – From 1 th November 2023

  3. Grand Finale Evaluation – November 2023 (tentative) - ONLINE

  4. Felicitation of Winners at Nodal Centers (Valedictory) – January 2023 (tentative) – OFFLINE at nodal centers across PAN India.

Rewards:

For College Participant:

  • 1 Lakh INR Per Ministry & Industry Problem Statement

  • For Student Innovation Category: 3 teams per nodal center - 1st prize money will be of Rs 1 Lakh and 2nd of Rs 75000 and 3rd will be of Rs 50000

For School Participant:

  • Five winning team will be selected per theme and the results will be published on the portal.

  • The Prize Money of Rs. 25,000/- will be felicitated at the allotted nodal center.

  • The number of winning teams can be less than five depending on the idea’s productivity, feasibility, novelty and acceptance by the evaluators.
